Creating Comfort and Connection Through Acoustic Design for Gleeds London HQ Fitout

Gleeds London

When international property consultancy Gleeds set out to redefine its London headquarters, it wasn’t just about creating a place to work—it was about creating a destination. Located in the newly completed Berners & Wells development in Fitzrovia, the 13,000ft² space spans three levels and brings together a diverse international network of employees, clients, and collaborators in a setting that blends hospitality, functionality, and flexibility.

Designed by Make Architects, the scheme takes a people-first approach to workplace design. The fit-out offers a curated mix of environments, including quiet library zones, open-plan workstations, private meeting rooms, and social areas. Each of these spaces demanded carefully considered acoustic solutions to ensure comfort, clarity, and flow across the day.

Acoufelt was proud to support the acoustic design of this landmark space, supplying wall and ceiling treatments that elevate both performance and aesthetic value. Our solutions were integrated throughout the project to manage reverberation, reduce noise transfer, and enhance the overall user experience.

On the fifth floor, where Gleeds staff carry out day-to-day work, a centrally located social kitchen anchors a blend of focused and collaborative zones. To support concentration without compromising visual calm, Acoufelt’s FilaSorb™ Plain 12mm Panels in soft Pearl were installed throughout meeting rooms and quiet areas. The minimalist aesthetic of these panels works in harmony with the light, refined interior palette while delivering strong acoustic performance in spaces designed for focus.

In open-plan zones, Acoufelt’s Fan & Reveal Ceiling Baffles were used to create rhythm and spatial definition while absorbing sound across shared workstations. These baffles also add architectural interest overhead, making them a practical and visual enhancement in busier areas of the workspace.

Downstairs, in the ground-floor lounge, the tone shifts—both visually and acoustically. This space, designed to host informal gatherings and casual interactions, features warmer materials, soft lighting, and tactile finishes. To bring acoustic control to this high-traffic environment, our QuietForm™ Pressed Panels were chosen in matching Pearl tones. The sculpted surface of QuietForm™ brings texture and movement to the walls, supporting the hospitality-inspired ambiance of the lounge while managing background noise.

Beneath it all, in the lower-ground event space, the design becomes even more atmospheric. Here, Castillo Acoustic Ceiling Tiles—with their pyramid-like geometry—provide a bold acoustic ceiling treatment that aligns with the sophisticated material palette of walnut, green velvet, and bronze detailing. These tiles help moderate acoustics in a space designed to host Gleeds’s wide range of events, from training sessions to their signature evening jazz nights.

Every Acoufelt product used in the Gleeds headquarters is manufactured using FilaSorb™, our proprietary acoustic material made from 60% recycled PET and powered by 40% renewable energy. These credentials support not only the functional goals of the project but its broader commitment to sustainability, contributing toward WELL, LEED, and Living Building Challenge (LBC) certification criteria.

Delivery was made possible through our trusted installation partner, Resonics, whose expertise ensured each product was installed with precision and care. Their experience with Acoufelt’s systems allowed for smooth coordination with other trades on-site and ensured the acoustic elements integrated seamlessly into the design intent.

The new Gleeds headquarters reflects a shift in workplace thinking—from places designed solely for productivity to environments that enable people to connect, recharge, and collaborate more meaningfully. With a carefully layered acoustic strategy that supports a range of uses and moods, this is a workplace built for longevity—and one that sounds as good as it looks.
